Ennis Driving Instructor Urges Learners To Follow Accompanied Driving Rules As New Permit Changes Come Into Effect
EscuchadoThere's a significant change for learner drivers in Ireland, with tougher rules around the renewal of learner permits coming into effect yesterday (Sunday, 1st November). Under the new regulations, anyone applying for a third or fourth learner permit must have actually sat a driving test within the previous two years. Those who reach the end of a fourth permit without obtaining a full licence will have to start the learning process again. The Government says the changes are designed to improve road safety and encourage people to progress towards a full driving licence. However, concerns have been raised about driving test waiting times, particularly for people living in rural areas who depend on a car. So, what do these changes mean for learner drivers, and will they make our roads safer? To discuss this, Alan Morrissey was joined by Chris Curran of Chris Curran Coaching Driving School in Ennis.
